Yesterday, Ollie and I had the pleasure of attending the Deighton Cup Thoroughbred Event and had such an amazing time. I've never had the opportunity to dress up in a fascinator before this and now I just want to wear one all the time!Ollie and I had so much fun getting dressed up in theme for the event and were so impressed with the rest of Vancouver -- we honestly don't know where they are hiding the rest of the time.
For my look, I decided to take a cue from the Royal Ascot and stick to one colour palette. I chose the hat first and then in a last minute rush, went downtown to find a matching dress. This romper immediately stood out to me so I decided to take a chance and go with it. I know it's quite unconventional to go with a romper to the races, but this one brings a classy playfulness to my look that I really love. Also, as bloggers, we always want to break the mold just a bit :)
After the photoshoot, Ollie and I were free to enjoy the races! We ran into Britta from Vancouver Vogue (among many other fashionable friends) and had an amazing rest of the afternoon having some drinks, eating the delicious sandwiches and listening to the amazing live band. Of course, we placed a bet or two on the horses, but neither of us was lucky this time. I suppose that's what you get when you choose them based completely on their looks :)
