Sick Day Essentials

I admittedly am getting a little stir crazy while sitting most of the day on the couch and feeling sorry for myself, so I thought I would put together a little snapshot of what has been keeping me going throughout my sick days. If I could have somehow fit Downton Abbey in this photo, trust me -- it would have been front and center.

The Stylist's Guide to NYC: This book was a gift from my mom for Christmas and it couldn't have been more perfect. I have been constantly planning my next trip to New York (which doesn't actually exist just yet), and this time I am going to be so ridiculously prepared, Ollie won't know what hit him. The great thing is that it gives insider tips on great places to eat, shop and sight see so we can do it all like a real New Yorker! One step closer to my dream...

Essie Nailpolish in Sand Tropez: This color reminds me of a beach holiday somewhere deliciously tropical. I would have tanned skin and a Pina Colada in my hand if it were an ideal world, but it's not so this color is instead on my pasty skin with a hot cup of green tea in my hands. Ah well, I still love it.

Michael Kors Slim Runway Watch: Not so much a sick day essential as an everyday one, but it has helped me watch the seconds tick by as I wait for Ollie to get home. Sick days can really get so lonely!

Frends Headphones: Who can really survive a sick day without music? Sometimes it's too much to read a book or even watch TV, but a noise distraction is always welcome. And aren't these Frends headphones just the best?

Korres Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturizing and Brightening Cream: Skin can get so dry when you're under the weather -- at least I know it does for me -- making an intense moisturizer so important. I just bought this cream a couple of days ago and I am absolutely hooked. The fact that it is made from all-natural ingredients makes it all the better and the smell is absolutely divine (Ollie came in for a kiss the other morning and told me so himself!).

La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense Eyes: One of my most effected areas during a cold is my under-eye area. They get super dehydrated and puffy, making me look as though I've aged 5 years within a day. I know it's silly to be vain during an illness, but no need to feel worse than we already do!

Anthropologie Capri Candle in Volcano: This scent is so light and invigorating, it almost makes you forget you're sick. Probably the motivator behind my trip planning :)

Some of my other essentials include a steaming mug of green tea, Tim Tams, and since I don't have a stuffed animal, I figured this beanie was the next best thing! Of course, I can't forget my sweatpants or Ugg Boots, but those are obviously a given.

What are your sick day essentials? Anything I should stock up on for the next time?

  1. Aww, I hope you feel better soon! The flu is going around my whole family... I got the flu shot yesterday in a very last-minute attempt to avoid it. Those headphones are amazing, and I love the candles at Anthropologie too... so comforting :)

  2. Awww, Alison...I'm so sorry you're sick again!! But you are making good use of your down-time, my dear; I love this little vignette you've put together!! Next to soy chai lattes, green tea is a perennial fave (have you ever tried Stash's Morrocan Mint?!) I adore Korres products - I use their mineral powder foundation religiously!! And seriously?? The next time you buy yourself a new beanie, would you pick one up for me, too?? You have the cutest collection!! Feel better soon!! XO
