I realize it's a well-known fact that Australia has some insanely beautiful beaches, but every time we visit a new one, I'm still blown away. It's not quite summer here yet, but it's warm enough to be outside at the beach in a simple summer dress to sit in the sand and enjoy the sound of the waves. I almost think this time of the year might be a little better because the beaches are practically deserted. This one in particular is located in a National Reserve Park and while it's a bit smaller than some others I've seen -- it's also one of the most beautiful. This is Garie Beach and it is surrounded by untouched parks and cliffs jutting out of the water. It really is quite magical and there's something so special about having this beauty all to yourself.
Ollie had ridden here earlier in the day and straight away thought that it would be the perfect place to take me to. This particular day was so insanely windy in the city, but somehow this little cove was almost completely protected. I thought that it was going to be an indoor day, but it turned out to be one of my favorites so far.
When we were packing for this trip, I was scared that I hadn't packed enough warm clothes. We are only spending a short amount of time in Australia, so I didn't want to load my suitcase with things I wouldn't need for 90% of the trip. It turns out that the nights are pretty chilly, but the days are absolutely beautiful. I'm more than happy spending the days in my sundresses as long as I bring a light sweater or denim jacket in case the wind picks up. The days are a little shorter, but jet-lag has me going to bed at 8:30 anyways so I don't mind. You just have to make sure you've got that jacket ready for when the sun goes down because that's when the chill sets in -- and it comes in quick.
A couple of days ago, I was sent the most gorgeous ring and I feel like the timing was so perfect. There are a couple of symbols that I'm always drawn to and one of them is the evil eye (along with arrows, moons and hearts). There's something about it that always catches my attention and I love the meaning behind it as well. Add to that the fact that it's made of Labradorite and I'm sold. They say that you're always drawn to the pieces that are meant for you and I wouldn't argue with that at all. I wasn't sure what to expect with the quality as the price is so low on the site -- but it truly is a beautiful piece. I love when a company can offer such good quality without gouging you on the price.
I wanted to get a few shots of the ring to send to the company, so we made an afternoon of it and drove to this amazing spot. There's something about the lighting in this country that is so different to back home. It has us excited to get out and shoot and I love having this passion reignited. So we came to this stunning location, took our photos and then sat on the beach to take in the view and watch one lone surfer have all the perfect waves to himself. What a lucky guy.
This weekend, we're leaving the beaches and heading for the mountains. We're going to a place I've always wanted to visit -- the Blue Mountains. Ollie's mom is taking part in a 15 km hike so we thought we'd tag along to offer our support and check out the area. My heart definitely belongs to the beach, but really any nature captures my heart. I can't wait to do some more exploring!
