Bali, My Love

Fashion and travel blogger, Alison Hutchinson, at the rice terraces in Ubud, Bali
It's been about a week since we left Bali and I already feel like it was a lifetime ago. I miss the heat, the beach being just footsteps from our door, the tasty food and the relaxed way of life more than I can explain. We spent 3 months on this beautiful island and it has become a second home.

I let the blog slide a little more than I would have liked while we were away but it's for good cause. We weren't just holidaying while in Bali, we've been setting up a business! I'll talk a bit more about that soon, but for now I just wanted to share some shots from our time in paradise. If you don't already, make sure to follow me on Instagram or Facebook to see what I've been up to (I post regularly on both of those sites).

We were staying in the Berawa area of Canggu for the majority of the time and really loved the laid-back vibe of the place.  A lot of the more built up areas of Bali can be quite touristy and the touts can get a little too pushy for our taste so this area suited us the best. We stayed in a no-frills guesthouse with a basic room but it suited us perfectly. It was a nice big room with a shared outdoor kitchen, a beautiful pool, some of the loveliest staff ever, and most importantly -- right near the beach. We had some incredible restaurants and cafes right nearby, a grocery store in walking distance and they seem to be opening a ton of new places now that it's high season. I think we will stay in the same area the next time we're back because it really was perfect for us.

Most nights, we would head down to the beach to watch the sunset and take a walk along the beach before dinner. The beach in Berawa isn't the cleanest (none of the beaches in Bali really are) but the water is the most perfect temperature and the beach seems to go on forever. The evenings were my favorite time in Bali because the temperature couldn't be more perfect. From about 4pm onward, you can be outside in a summer dress or singlet and shorts and be perfectly comfortable. Not too hot, not at all cold. I'm sure the mornings are the same, but Ollie and I are night owls so we didn't see too many early mornings while there.

Most of our daytime was spent working on setting up our new business -- either working away on our computers or going back and forth to our seamstress in Kuta. It was a busy 3 months and it went by in the blink of an eye but it was wonderful.

I hope you enjoy some of the snapshots from our time in paradise and I hope you'll forgive my absence from this space. There's lots of exciting content coming up and I can't wait to share it with you! Thank you for sticking with me -- I'll be back again very soon! xoxo
