A Bit of Country

You can take a girl out of the country...

Like I mentioned in my last post -- Ollie and I spent a few days in the Hunter Valley to do some wine tasting, eat lots of yummy foods and relax in the beautiful countryside. There are so many gorgeous wineries in the region with their beautiful rows of vines and stunning country homes, but another thing that I loved to see were the open fields and pastures where cows and horses had plenty of space to roam around. The one thing we noticed about this area is there is so much land. It seems like every house has at least 100 acres to itself and it gives that amazing wide open spaces feel.

At this particular spot, we had driven past the night before as the cows were being rounded up into this pen for the night. It seemed like so many to fit into such a tight little space, but perhaps they like huddling up for warmth at night? I'm not sure the reasoning, but the next morning they were out and free to roam the land -- eating all the grass they like. I have no illusions as to what these cows have in store for their future, but it does make me happy to see that they have so much space to live a happy life.

I decided to go with the country feel and wear this KAYVALYA Rosie Off The Shoulder Dress with boots and a denim jacket. When the sun came out it was quite beautiful and warm, but as soon as the sun went down, it was nice to have that extra layer. It was actually great to be able to bring out my KAYVALYA dresses again because it's been a little too cold in Sydney for them. The beautiful valley must block out that cold ocean wind and hold in the warmth a little more. Ahhh, I'm missing it already.

We had made this stop on our way to lunch at an adorable little spot called Nanna Kerr's Kitchen. We hadn't realized it at the time, but it actually turns out to be Miranda Kerr's family that runs the place and now that I think back on it, it makes sense as to the ethos of the restaurant. Everything is organic and I'm pretty sure they take produce from their own garden in the back. There's also tons of vegan options and it was so nice to have so much choice! I went for the ratatouille and it was beautiful. Ok, now I'm craving it... Anyways, I had wanted to wear something that would be nice enough for eating at this cute spot but also be comfortable enough for the drive back to Sydney. I think that's one of the reasons I love this Rosie dress -- it's so comfortable with the elastic waist and free-flowing material, but it's so stinkin' cute at the same time. I think this one has been my most worn so far and is quickly becoming one of my favorites!
