Leather and Mint

Vancouver Fashion Blogger, Alison Hutchinson, wearing Forever 21 Pleather Jacket, Cue Sheer Black Top, XO Bella Mint Skirt, Urban Outfitter Black Boots, H&M Black Leather Bag

I hope everyone has had an amazing weekend! I honestly don't know where it's gone -- it was far too short this time. But the weather was gorgeous and we spent a nice day at the park, where we wandered for a new place to take photos. This place is just up the street from our home and I never even knew it existed. Vancouver has so many gorgeous hidden gems like this.

This outfit is actually what I wore on Friday night for dinner and drinks with Tarryl and Ollie. I really liked it, so I wanted to take a couple of photos of it today. It probably actually suits daytime a little better anyways. The mint skirt was an amazing find at XO Bella and the sheer top is one that I bought at Cue in Australia, when I was there 10 years ago. This just goes to show that you should never throw out clothes because they will most likely come back into style! Also, isn't my new crystal pendant necklace gorgeous? Another new piece from my amazing and talented friend Tarryl from True Worth Design.

Peplum and Stripes

I hope everyone is having an amazing weekend! Ollie and I spent the day shopping downtown and then we went to see the movie Samsara, which was really beautiful. If you are into photography, you will really enjoy this.

For the day, I wanted to wear comfy shoes for walking around, so I wore my current faves -- the sneaker wedges! I also wore a peplum skirt from Urban Outfitters and striped top from H&M. I felt cute and comfy all at the same time. The necklace that I'm wearing is a new one from my amazing friend and talented designer, Tarryl from True Worth Design. I love the key pendant and the length. I think this necklace will get a lot of use :)

Neon Love

I'm having a very hard time letting go of summer colors. I have fall colors waiting patiently in my closet, but I know that once I switch over, there's no going back. And it would be such a shame to waste this gorgeous weather in Vancouver when we know that just around the corner will be non-stop rain, with plenty of opportunity to wear out fall and winter clothes. PLENTY.

The nights are getting quite a bit cooler, so I kept warm by wearing a sweater and blazer, but I'm going to keep my legs bare for as long as humanly possible. There's nothing more uncomfortable than tights. I figure I have another week or so :)

Vancouver Fashion Week Day 5

Day 5 was the final day of fashion week and we have definitely seen our fair share of fashion shows. On Sunday, we arrived on time to see the first show which was the most anticipated -- Gretchen Jones. We also saw Sentimongla Aier, Sofia Palmero, Pinghe (again), Daniela Villa, Farida Lalji, Soddi, Y!D.N.A. and George Bezhanishvili.

Unfortunately, we didn't get any outfit photos, but Ollie did try to get a few shots during the shows. I was wearing a grey tee, a black peplum skirt, my sneaker wedges and my new tan leather jacket.  Maybe we will have to take photos of this look another day because it's actually really cute when you see it properly :)

Celina and Kara from Fabulous Furnishings came to watch the shows on this day as well and it was so nice to have their company! They make everything so much more fun and it's so nice to have someone to talk with about the collections. And didn't Celina look incredible? She made her top and belt out of leftover curtain material because she didn't have anything to wear. Now that's talent!!

I also met the super sweet Simone from Skinny Dip Blog, who was a lot of fun to sit with during the first few shows of the night and I finally got a photo with photographer David Bailey, who was a lot of fun throughout the week.

Vancouver Fashion Week Day 4

Day 4 of Vancouver Fashion Week was another amazing day. We caught all of the shows even though we were about an hour and a half late (we should have learned our lesson for Sunday because we stupidly showed up on time...). The shows were great and we had plenty of energy afterwards to go out for some fish tacos and drinks.

For the evening, I wore a bright blue peplum top and black shorts from Zara. I also wore my super high heels and it's a good thing I did because I was standing for a couple of shows before being seated. I could see over everyone's heads without issue (it's times like these when it's nice to be tall).

The shows that we saw were KOH T, Tramp in Disguise, Xsenia and Olya, Pola Thompson, Lava Woman, Sir Stan Studio, and Ha Song Beg. There was also a Korean Cultural Wedding Ceremony in the middle, but we'll pretend this didn't happen...

Vancouver Fashion Week Day 3

Day 3 at VFW has definitely been the liveliest of them all. We arrived at around 7:30 and luckily they were running very late so we were able to catch Than Nguyen's show as well as Heiress Swimwear, Mia Melon, Qispi Kay Beachwear, Apt Form, Jessica Huang, and Pinghe. It was quite a few shows, so be warned -- lots of pictures!

For the evening, I decided to wear a black Zara dress that I bought last fall. I love the dress and luckily it's a timeless style that can be altered by wearing a different belt or none at all. I wore it with my electric blue shoes to add a bit of color and my new leather jacket from Urban Outfitters. I think this is going to be my new favourite jacket because it goes with absolutely everything. I ended up wearing it tonight as well :)

Vancouver Fashion Week Day 2

The second day of Vancouver Fashion Week was so much more upbeat and had a really great vibe about it.  The venue was quite packed and we were lucky to get some great seats even though we missed the first couple of hours. Today, we caught 5 shows: Elick and Afsi, Ginger Martini, Queenie, Qube, and KAS Wear.

I decided to wear my current favourite skirt and a green button-up top. I love the color of this blouse and haven't had any photos with it yet, so I thought today would be the perfect opportunity.

Vancouver Fashion Week Day 1

We arrived at Vancouver Fashion Week quite late on the first day because of work, but we still managed to catch 4 shows (luckily they were running late!!). The 4 shows we saw were: Papillon, Trunk Show, Gert Johan Coetzee, and RG Sanchez. They were all so different from each other and beautiful in their own way. I'm going to quickly go through each show with the photos of my favourite looks from each. Ollie took some amazing photos so I hope you like them :)

Light Neutrals

Yesterday was another absolutely gorgeous day in Vancouver, so I thought I would take advantage of wearing white for as long as I can.  The top is actually a very light pink/beige, and I love the way it falls on me. It's hard to find a shirt with nice heavy material that will hang properly. I'm definitely going to miss summer dressing, but I'm very happy that it will be around for at least another couple of weeks :)

A Sporty Touch

I hope everyone is having an amazing weekend! It has been so beautiful in Vancouver -- I'm loving this extended summer we are having. Last night, Ollie and I walked down to the beach to see the sunset and take some photos. It was so gorgeous and we kept finding all of these different light pockets along the way. It was so nice to be able to steal Ollie away from his work for an evening :)

I love these sneakers that I was wearing last night. They are the perfect way to bring a casual and sporty element to a miniskirt and they are so comfortable. I really wish I could wear them to work, but unfortunately I don't think they would approve...

Polo Dress

When I came home from Australia, I had the best surprise in the mail -- this dress from Sugarlips! I think it's just about the cutest thing in the world and after 10 days of gorging on the most delicious food, the loose fit is more than welcome :)

With a dress that fits quite loose, like this one, I try to elongate my legs as much as possible in order to give a slimming effect. These wedges are perfect for this because both the platform and the nude color give the illusion of a longer leg. Although, if you're in more of a sporty or nautical mood, some white sneakers would be super cute as well.

I hope you like my dress and be sure to check out the Sugarlips online store!

Neon Stripe

I hope everyone has had an amazing week! I've been so jet lagged that I can barely tell if I'm human, but I have managed to make it through the week and I am really looking forward to relaxing this weekend.

Yesterday was Fashion's Night Out in Vancouver and I'm so happy that we finally have our very own! I just did a bit of a wander around and checked out a couple of stores, but I'm happy that Vancouver is taking more of an active roll in in the fashion scene. It makes me excited for Fashion Week!

Ollie and I went out to take a couple of photos before I headed out. I hope you like my neon stripe shirt. It really reminds me of the 80's and I love it :)

Pink Florals

I usually shy away from pink because it's past my girly comfort zone with my blonde hair, but I decided to finally wear this dress to Ollie's dad's birthday. It has been sitting in my closet for a few months now, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to bring it out. It really is the cutest thing and I love it with the floral blazer. This blazer got a lot of use during our trip because it is the perfect light-weight material and it looks cute with practically everything. I love pieces like this.

These photos were taken after we left the lunch, so please excuse the scenery. I just wanted to make sure that we squeezed some in while it was still light out :)

Bondi Beach

We went to Bondi Beach on such a gorgeous day. I'm told that it is way too busy and touristy in the summer, but because it's winter we were lucky to practically have the beach to ourselves! Ollie's brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law were the best tour guides ever and agreed to take us there -- even though real Australians don't seem to venture there. I guess I'm a real tourist because I loved it!

We just got back home today and looking at these photos is seriously making me want to go back. I just wish that flight wasn't quite so long...
