Day 5 was the final day of fashion week and we have definitely seen our fair share of fashion shows. On Sunday, we arrived on time to see the first show which was the most anticipated -- Gretchen Jones. We also saw Sentimongla Aier, Sofia Palmero, Pinghe (again), Daniela Villa, Farida Lalji, Soddi, Y!D.N.A. and George Bezhanishvili.
Unfortunately, we didn't get any outfit photos, but Ollie did try to get a few shots during the shows. I was wearing a grey tee, a black peplum skirt, my sneaker wedges and my new tan leather jacket. Maybe we will have to take photos of this look another day because it's actually really cute when you see it properly :)
Celina and Kara from Fabulous Furnishings came to watch the shows on this day as well and it was so nice to have their company! They make everything so much more fun and it's so nice to have someone to talk with about the collections. And didn't Celina look incredible? She made her top and belt out of leftover curtain material because she didn't have anything to wear. Now that's talent!!
I also met the super sweet Simone from Skinny Dip Blog, who was a lot of fun to sit with during the first few shows of the night and I finally got a photo with photographer David Bailey, who was a lot of fun throughout the week.
Gretchen Jones was the most hyped designer as she was the winner of Project Runway season 8 and has shown her S/S13 collection at NYFW. She did not disappoint and I absolutely loved her entire collection. She had the most adorable prints on the cutest dresses and I could see myself wearing pretty much every single item. I loved the floral headpieces that she had the models wear and the bright colours that she used in her designs -- even the black jumpsuit had a colourful belt. This collection was one of the only ones that really felt like a Spring/Summer line -- most were heavier materials in dark colours which had more of a Fall/Winter appeal.
Sentimongla Aier showed us some stunning gowns in beautiful materials, with lots of rhinestones and embellishments.
Sophia Palmero had some adorable swimsuits in bright fun colours and unexpected cuts. I loved the Mexican/tropical feel to her collection and really enjoyed the bright bold accessories that all of the models wore. I had seen Sophia sitting in the front row all week and had guessed that she must have been a designer with some serious personality. This was definitely correct :)
Daniela Villa showed us some gorgeous dresses in very rich colours and fabrics. The last dress of the collection was so breathtaking -- if I had any red carpet events to go to, I would love to wear something like this (unfortunately no red carpet events on the calendar...).
Farida Lalji showed us a collection that was influenced by her Muslim upbringing. The fabrics and textiles were so gorgeous and I loved all of the bright colours she brought into her designs.
Soddi showed us a men's collection that was very different that anything I've ever seen... on men... I can't quite see any men I know wearing these particular designs, but I might like a couple of them ;)
Y!D.N.A. had some sexy designs that I really loved. The high-cut body suit with cape was amazing and I wish that it was appropriate to wear this ever. He also had some designs that were quite the opposite and almost boyish, which I maybe loved even more.
George Bezhanishvili was the perfect way to end Vancouver Fashion Week. He had a gorgeous collection with dark and draping designs that floated down the runway. There was a sleeveless wool coat that I would love to own right now -- it looks so cosy for fall!
It was a good close to the week, but I can't help feeling like I'm hoping that next spring and summer won't be quite so dark and heavy. I loved the bright prints and colors of this year and am hoping that we will see at least some next year as well.
I was wearing:
Urban Outfitters Jacket
Ollie's Tee
Zara Necklace
Urban Outfitters Skirt
Sportsgirl Shoes
Thanks so much for visiting!!
