Hello and happy Thursday! This is the last set of photos that we took from the long weekend and I feel like this is one of the times that has really revitalized me lately.
It's amazing to have friends that not only support you, but want to help out with brainstorming ideas and suggestions -- feeding into all the millions of ideas I have buzzing around my head right now. I had so many great takeaways from this weekend and I can't wait to start implementing them. Nothing too drastic, just a way to keep the content fresh and interesting for all of you!
This particular weekend was all about spending time with friends in comfort and relaxation, so I went with a flowy peasant top and destroyed boyfriend jeans for our last day. The key with a look like this is to make sure that the fit of each item helps to flatter you, rather make you look bigger. This look could have easily been oversized and sloppy, but a couple of details keep the entire look more streamlined.

The key with a look like this is to make sure that the fit of each item helps to flatter you, rather make you look bigger. This look could have easily been oversized and sloppy, but a couple of details keep the entire look more streamlined.
First of all, the shoulders of the top are cut in a way that hugs the shape of my arm before it flows out. If this top had puffy shoulders, it could have easily made me look like a marshmallow, but this cut shows where my shoulders end to slim me down.
Next, even thought the pants are relaxed boyfriend jeans, the hips of them are nice and snug to show a bit of my shape. The legs are nice and loose and the absolute must with bf jeans is the cuffed ankle. This glimpse of the leg shows that you are in fact much skinnier than the loose fit of the jeans and is the number one key to looking thinner in baggy jeans. No matter how big you feel that your ankles are -- they are always going to be thinner than your bf jean, and that is where the illusion occurs.
You can even wear a bootie like I did here -- just make sure to show a sliver of that skin!
I was wearing:
Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren Top
Olivia Solie & Sam Edelman Necklaces
Daniel Wellington Watch (get 15% off with code "stylingmylife")

DeleteThat looks like such a cute and comfy looking indian summer top. Great tips on how to wear it and the boyfriend jeans. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is SO my kind of look, dearest Alison!! (Except maybe the distressed denims...I'm not brave enough to go quite so "destroyed!!") But that little peasant top and the booties?? Yay!! Love the boho-chic jewellery choices, too!! XO
