I've been posting so many beach photos lately, I thought it was about time to show you a city look.
To be completely honest, we haven't ventured into the Sydney CBD too much since arriving, but I spent the last two days there and I'm starting to get my bearings now. I'm what you might call "directionally challenged" so whenever I'm in a new place, I find it quite difficult to find my way around. Since I've had Ollie with me and this is his home, I've just been blindly following him around and happy for it, until yesterday when I needed to go and apply for our Thai visas while he worked. Even though I'm prone to getting lost, I really love to check out a new city on my own. There's nothing like wandering the streets of somewhere you've never been before and not worrying that the other person isn't enjoying themselves. Luckily, phones are so amazing that it's pretty much impossible to get lost as long as you have battery power on there.
I think one of the biggest reasons I haven't ventured off much yet is that I broke my phone a little over a week ago. It's maybe the most inconvenient thing that I could have possibly done within the first month of our year-long trip. I've always known that I rely heavily on my phone, but it's actually quite debilitating to not have it. I quickly got over the discomfort of not having anything to do while I wait for things (ie train rides, doctor's offices, sleepless nights...) but it sort of wipes away your independence at the same time. Also, I use it non-stop for my work, so days away from my computer are suddenly disconnected from important things. It has made me fall severely behind on my instagram & emails, and Snapchat is totally off the books at the moment. Moral of the story: DO NOT DROP YOUR PHONE. It really sucks.

For my look, I went with something more streetstyle appropriate to wear in the city. I've been veering towards everything boho lately, so I thought I would pull out my leopard bomber and faux leather shorts. I've had both of these pieces for a few years now and they have definitely pulled their weight in my closet. Every year, I find myself bringing them back out and styling them in new ways. I would have expected either one of them to be past their prime at this point, but it seems that these have become my ultimate basics. I almost passed them by when I was packing for my trip, but I'm really happy that I brought both along. They are the perfect way to look unique without being over the top. I love a good balance like this.
