This is my second attempt at self-portraits and I think I'm hooked. There's an added challenge in this type of photography and I really feel like I'm accomplishing something with it.
It definitely takes about 4 times as long as when Ollie takes my photos, and setting up can be a little frustrating, but it's all just a part of the learning curve. I've never been a good photographer, but I'm really hoping to improve over the next couple of months. At the moment I'm shooting on auto, but I would love to understand the settings and the technicality behind shooting with a DSLR. If anyone has any tips for self-portraits, I would love to hear them!
Unlike last time, the spot I chose today had other people and this in itself was a bit of a challenge for me. I've never gotten past that feeling of self-consciousness when shooting in front of people and this time might have been even worse. I'm sure that I looked like a crazy person running back and forth from the camera after each shot, but I was far enough away that it didn't affect me too much. I did find it a bit harder to get a good shot this time -- but in the end I'm really happy with these few that I'm posting.

It's been getting a little colder over the last couple of days but I'm still not willing to give up the summer clothes. My compromise was to still wear shorts but pair them with a flowy boho blouse with sleeves that cover my arms. I've had this blouse for a couple of years now and I've got a newfound love for it. I actually brought it on my year-long trip and don't think I wore it more than 2 times. It's not that I didn't like it, it's really because it got way too wrinkly and I didn't have an iron 90% of the time. Also, I just hate ironing, so I'll always reach for the non-wrinkled item when I can. I'm sure that you can tell I didn't iron it for these shots either, but I think it's passable. It will probably drive some people crazy, but I hope you'll forgive me :)
WHAT I WORE:
Zara Blouse
Ksubi Shorts
BP Sandals
